Instructional Design
Instructional design is the process by which instruction is improved through the analysis of learning needs and systematic development of learning materials. Instructional designers often use technology and multimedia as tools to enhance instruction.
Description: The Online Teaching/Learning instructional design team assists and works collaboratively with faculty and subject matter experts in the use of technology to enhance pedagogy and improve student learning. In addition the team can:
- Provide team-based leadership and project management for the instructional design and development process.
- Work in collaboration with faculty members in the design, development and delivery of educational materials in an innovative manner.
- Utilize technology to enhance student learning; develop instructional modules for a variety of subject matter areas by matching instructional strategies based on sound learning theory and principles with student learning styles.
- Provide instructional design and technology support (Blackboard CE6) to faculty developing online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses through individual consultation and face-to-face training.
- The instructional designer will evaluate, select, and integrate technologies, including web-based applications and digital media, into instructional systems focusing on asynchronous teaching and learning.

Requirements: Instructional design services are available to all UT Health Science Center faculty and staff.
Restrictions: This service is restricted to UT Health Science Center faculty and staff.
Time Constraints: None
Turn Around Time: Turn around time depends on the scope of the instructional design project.
Cost: There is no fee for consultations, however there is a $45.00 per hour fee for special projects.
