Available Software
The university community is able to take advantage of low cost software applications through state or institutional contracts.
Description:Software available to the university at discounted prices. The support for these applications can be classified as:
- Supported: Fully supported products are provided by IMS for those products that the University has determined are standard by virtue of their widespread use and/or cost. Because so many utilize these products at the HSC, IMS has been able to invest time and resources to ensure that staff are properly trained and experienced to offer customers the best support possible.
- Limited Support: Limited Support includes those products that IMS provides only on a 'limited,' as-available basis. Support is limited due to more limited usage and staff members who are trained on these products. Limited support may include installation of software without application support. Usually, these types of services are based on a specific customer request, and they are granted only on a 'case-by-case' basis.
- Non-supported: Non-supported services include those for which IMS has not trained 'in house' staff to support a non-standard product. To offer any support, IMS would have to acquire outside contractor or vendor resources. These types of services will usually result in additional costs to the customer.
Examples of Non-supported software:
- Peer-to-Peer
- Windows 98, NT or 2000 Operating Systems
- Mac OS-9 Operating System
- Firefox
- Thunderbird
- Eudora
- Internet Explorer for Mac Web Browser
- Safari
