Access Voice Mail
From your HSC office phone Dial the access number you were provided in your Welcome Message or in the Voice Mail options in owa.uthscsa.edu. It will announce your phone number or name (if it has been recorded in Personal Options.) Enter your PIN and press #

From another HSC office phone (Exchange Voice Mail subscriber) Dial the access number you were provided in your Welcome Message or in the Voice Mail options in owa.uthscsa.edu. After hearing "if this is not your mailbox," press * (star). Enter your 5 digit phone number. Enter your PIN and press #.

From an external phone Dial the access number you were provided in your Welcome Message or in the Voice Mail options in owa.uthscsa.edu. Enter your 5 digit phone number. Enter your PIN and press#

If you can't remember your PIN, reset it in OWA: Options > See All Options... > Phone > Voice Mail > Reset PIN.

Note: NEC users must FWBNA (*8) or FWD (*7) your telephone to 6 + My Five (6 plus your 5 digit extension) to activate EUM

If you are unable to sign in, or you are using the "light" version of OWA, contact the IMS Service Desk at 567-7777.

 
Manage your Exchange Voice Mail over the phone

The Voice (or Speech) Interface is the default interface after recording your personalized greeting. To change to the touchtone interface, press 0 (while in the Main Menu of the Voice Interface). To make the touchtone interface your default, say "Personal Options" and press 4.

Voice Mail messages are played with "from" and "date" indicated.

Personal Contacts/Find a Contact/Directory
First, set up contacts on a computer interface (Outlook, Entourage, or OWA)
Say "Personal Contacts" or "Directory"
Say the contact's first name and last name
Say location (office, cell, home, if you have listed these numbers)
Press 4 to Find a Contact
Spell the last name and first name of the person you are looking for. (Press the number associated with each letter just once.)
To search the Directory:
Press 00, then spell the last name and first name. Press ## to spell the email alias, or UTHSCSA user name. Press 0 to key in the 5 digit phone number

Deleted Messages When a message is deleted on the phone, it remains in the Deleted Items File on the web. When the message is deleted from the Delete Items File, it cannot be restored.

Missed Call Identification Callers who hang up before leaving a message are identified in an email message sent by the system as a missed call notification. A number may display as unknown if it is blocked by the caller.

Sign In Your domain and user name (uthscsa\username) should appear. Enter your UTHSCSA password and click OK. Your Domain (UTHSCSA) and username (uthscsa\username) should appear. Enter your UTHSCSA password and click OK.

Listen to Voice Mail Voice mail messages are sent to your email inbox. Click on the subject line to listen to voice mail, click on the attachment or player bar

Reset your Exchange Voice Mail PIN

1. Go to Outlook Web App (OWA) at owa.uthscsa.edu OWA connects you to your Exchange Unified Messaging mailbox via the web.

2. Enter your User Name and Password. Then click Sign in.

3. Your mailbox will open. Click the Options button in the upper right corner, then click on See all Options.

4. Click on Phone at the left.

5. Click on Voice Mail at the top.

Using your office phone, call the Outlook Voice Access number. The system will identify your phone (extension) number. Enter your PIN when prompted.

Note: Your PIN allows you to access your mailbox via phone; your Password allows you to access your mailbox via computer.

6. Click on Reset my voice mail PIN

7. Click on OK to reset.

8. You will receive an email message in your Outlook Inbox from Microsoft Outlook.

  • Using your office phone, call the Outlook Voice Access number. The system will identify your phone (extension) number. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  • Note: Your PIN allows you to access your mailbox via phone; your Password allows you to access your mailbox via computer.
  • Voice prompts will lead you through changing your PIN and setting up your voice signature and your initial greeting.
 
Creating an OWA Rule for Voice Mail Messages Using an Internet Browser

Open an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox or Chrome) and go to the following web page: https://owa.uthscsa.edu

1. First, you will need to create a new folder in your email. Right click on your Inbox and select Create New Folder…

Type in the name of the folder and hit enter. The new folder will then show up under your Inbox.

2. Go to Options in the upper right corner of the screen. Select Create an Inbox Rule

3. Click New.

4. Select the Criteria for the Rule. You will need to create an exception to avoid the risk of forwarded or replied to voice mail messages or other unintended messages being filtered by the rule.

Click on More Options

5. Click on the dropdown arrow under "*When the message arrives, and:"

6. Click on "It's" and "of the type…"

7. Click on Voice Mail

8. Click on the dropdown arrow under "Do the following:" Click on Move, copy or delete” and select "Move the message to folder…"

9. Highlight the folder you created earlier and choose OK

10. Hit Save on the New Inbox Rule screen

11. You will now see this Rule listed in your Inbox Rules.
