Web Hosting

You have three choices when you want to host a web site at the Health Science Center:

  1. Use the Health Science Center's institutional server
  2. Set up your own server
  3. Use your department's own server, if it has one.

Multimedia Production can place your site on the institutional server. There's a one-time $50 set-up fee, and a $240-a-year fee. The fee covers daily back-ups, server maintenance, and up to one hour a month devoted to updating your content. Submit a Web Site Hosting Service Agreeement (.pdf format) to the department.

To run your own server, submit an IP Address/DNS Entry Service Request. The server will be checked to make sure its meets security standards.

Web sites that are registered as a domain may be hosted by the university with approval of a dean or vice president, and consent of the webmaster. The web-site requester needs to complete a Request for Domain form (.pdf format).

SharePoint services hosting is available from the Department of Information Management Client Support Services. The university uses SharePoint for special-purpose web sites that are internal and require password protection.
