Remote Desktop

Remote Desktop is a tool for users to connect or access another computer over a network connection. University employees can use Remote Desktop to access their work computer desktop environment from their home or other remote computer or from another computer on the University network. Instructions for enabling Remote Desktop on your work computer and connecting to that computer from on or off campus are listed below. For off-campus access, a virtual private network (VPN) will need to be initiated before connecting to the computer via remote desktop. See the VPN page for more information on VPN and two factor authentication.

Apple/Mac Computers:

*Note: To connect remotely from a Windows computer to an Apple/Mac computer, additional software is required once VPN is connected. You may still connect to shared drives and storage without additional software. Call the IMS Service Desk at (210)567-7777 for assistance in mapping drives on a Apple/Mac computer.
